Occasionally, you might see a message about a failure to generate notes, or a blank page being generated. Here are some steps to get you unblocked.

Step 1: Use the retry button

If there’s a retry button, click that. It uses a different fallback method to connect to our LLMs, so should do the trick if the first attempt at generating notes failed.

Step 2: Manually regenerate

Click the sparkles icon (✨) in the top right of the note to open the Templates panel. Then click the cycle icon (circular arrow) next to the template you’re using (e.g. Auto) to regenerate the notes.

Step 3: Check your transcript

Make sure to check if the transcript exists. Open the transcript panel — it’s the bubble icon with three vertical lines, next to the chat icon at the bottom of the note. If there’s no transcript, the note generation won’t have any content to work with. No transcript usually means Granola didn’t capture audio — see Transcription issues for audio and permissions troubleshooting.

Notes not generated automatically after the meeting

Granola generates notes after you’ve had a meeting and transcription has been captured. If notes never appeared:
  • Wait a few minutes — Generation can take a couple of minutes, especially for long meetings or slower connections. You’ll get a notification when it’s ready.
  • Check that transcription ran — Open the note and look at the transcript panel. If there’s no or very little transcript, fix transcription/audio issues first, then regenerate the note if needed.
  • Check your language setting — If the transcript or notes are in the wrong language, set your meeting language and try regenerating.
