Granola Chat has a model picker under the chat box. Which models you can use depends on your plan.

Which plans can choose a model?

• Basic (free): Auto only. Granola chooses the model for each chat. Other models are shown greyed out with an upgrade prompt.
• Business: A default model is preselected. You can switch to any available model in the Models list.
• Enterprise: Same as Business. Fable 5.1 is off by default and must be enabled by a workspace admin.

There is no Auto option on Business or Enterprise. The Granola apps for iOS and Android still show an Auto (default) option for everyone.

Which model to pick

The preselected default works well for most chats. You only need to switch if you want a different style of answer.

• Quick questions, action items, short summaries and drafts: stay on the default or pick a faster model.
• Complex analysis across many meetings, strategy work or long documents: pick a more capable model, such as Fable 5.1.

Some models show a “Thought for Xs” indicator while they reason through your question. Expand it to see the reasoning behind the answer.

Fable 5.1

Fable 5.1 is Anthropic’s model. It’s available to Business workspaces. On Enterprise, Fable 5.1 is turned off by default. Click your workspace name in the bottom-left corner, then select Settings. A workspace admin can enable it with the Claude Fable setting under Settings > Workspace > Data security. Until it is enabled, Fable 5.1 appears disabled in the model picker. When Fable 5.1 is used, Anthropic retains agent input-output logs for 30 days for trust and safety purposes. Chat conversations with Fable 5.1 are not subject to zero data retention (ZDR).
