Granola should stay up-to-date automatically, but this can be blocked by permissions restrictions on your computer if you’re using a device that’s managed by your company. Here’s how to manually uninstall and reinstall Granola to get the latest version. Your notes are saved to your Granola account, so uninstalling Granola doesn’t delete them. If Granola isn’t updating, see Updating Granola first, as you might not need to reinstall it.

Uninstalling Granola

  1. Open Finder and navigate to Applications.
  2. Right-click on Granola and select Move to Bin.
  3. In Finder, search for “Granola” and filter by “This Mac” and delete any other instances of the Granola app by moving them to the bin - in case you installed the Granola app in another location.
  4. Go to the Bin, highlight all Granola files, and choose Delete Immediately.
  5. If there’s a Granola icon left in your dock, right-click it and select Unpin.

Reinstalling Granola

  1. Visit our website and download the latest version of the app.
  2. Open the downloaded file, then open Install Granola. The installer downloads Granola, adds it to your Applications folder, and opens it for you.
If you’d prefer to drag Granola into Applications yourself, download the full version from granola.ai/download?full_dmg=true. If Granola is already installed, the installer opens your existing copy rather than replacing it, so uninstall Granola first.

  2. Find Granola in the list and select ‘uninstall’.
  3. The uninstall program should run automatically.
