You can write your own notes in Granola as your conversation is happening, to help guide how the AI-enhanced notes will be generated.

Accessing the note editor

When you start a new meeting or notes on iPhone, a note in progress card will appear at the bottom of your screen. Simply swipe up to access the note editor during transcription, and you can add your own context and thoughts during the meeting, which Granola will use as context when generating enhanced notes.

Why add your own notes?

  1. Highlight big moments or decisions.
  2. Headers help Granola structure the final “enhanced” notes.
  3. Bullets help Granola capture key important details that matter to you

Formatting tips

  • Headers: Use ### to create a header (these will usually be carried through to your enhanced notes)
  • Bullet points: Use * or - for simple bullet points
  • Typos and abbreviations: Granola will understand and fix them - think of it like an even better autocorrect!

Or, leave it blank!

While taking a few notes can help guide Granola, it works just fine without any notes taken, working solely off the transcript and the basic info it has about the meeting.
